Dos ochos por favour!

Well, Rowyn is just a chatter box these days. Brad and I left on vacation and came back to her saying "door" "up please" and "Lara". So many new things in just 7 days.......
Brad, me, our friends Melissa, Jeff, Jess and Martin went on vacation to the Dominica the last week in Feb. It was a hugely anticipated vacation for Brad and I. We haven't been away from Rowyn for that long ever. We knew she was in good hands - Grandma and Grandpa had taken up the challenge - but we weren't sure what we were going to do about missing her so much. We convinced Grandma that she had to email us every day with a little update (mostly for me). I must say, this worked out perfect. For $5 US, we could check our e-mail every day after breakfast and get our update and send out back. Kept the lonliness at bay.
We had the most amazing time in the Dominican. We stayed at the Rui Palace Punta Cana. Great resort. Only 20 min. from the airport. We lucked out on the weather. Had perfect blue skies, 28-30 degrees C every day. The beach was phanominal. We had a chance to catch some rays, some sleep, some hangovers, and have a lot of laughs.
Our adventure took us to a half day excurion of snorkling in a natural coral reef, swimming with Sting Rays and you'll never guess but - SHARKS as well. The sting rays were quite intersting. We got to feel them and get our picture taken (for a meer $30 we could have bought the pics). The next little area was where they had about 15 or so nurse sharks. You could snorkle with them. I managed to get in the water, panicked, and got right back out. My philosophy was that Rowyn needed at least one parent. I thought that was a pretty decent reason to get out don't you?
We're back to the daily grind, our vacation behind us, but what a time.
Our girl missed us I think. Anita said she was asking for us and pointing to our picture and saying Mama! Dada! Rowyn can now say Bamba for Grandpa. No Grandma yet - go figure!
The greatest thing as to see how much Rowyn changed in just that week. She has a new best friend at daycare. Her friend Lara shares her cubby beside Rowyn. Rowyn showed me Lara's cubby and said LARA Mama! Her teachers told us that Rowyn and Lara hold hands in class and say each others name all day. Rowyn's name is "Rowrow". She's saying a coupld two word sentences now which is pretty cool. "Up Please" is the most prevalant. We can ask her questions like "Ready for a nap?" and she'll nod her head yes. My favourite is when she says "oh-oh! Mama!" Everything is oh-oh. Her new learned word from Grandma last week while we're away. She says is so exagerated it's halarious. It's more like OOOOOh-oh.
Here are some pics of Rowyn and our trip away.

I am not the one taking the pics.... that would be our brave friend Martin

Pic of Martin, Jess and I snorkling at the coral reef. Now that I can handle. The fist are only 6 inches long here - not six feet long!

We celebrated Jess's 30th birthday down in the DR. This is the whole gang. The waiters put up balloons, had a cake and even sang Happy Birthay en espanol!

Me and the hubby.

Beautiful beautiful blue green water with soft white sand.....
